Shoulder alignment with the Driver
One of the principles of alignment on any golf shot is that your shoulders, hips and feet should all be parallel to the target line. With most clubs, that is quite normal and natural, but with the driver, less so. There are three reasons that the shoulders will get out of line i.e. the right shoulder moves out in front of the left one.
Why your shoulders might misalign
Firstly, your right hand is below your left on the grip of the golf club. Secondly, your right-hand grip is on top of your left. But the main thing that throws the alignment out is that the ball position with the driver is in line with your left heel. To realign your shoulders, make sure you pull your right shoulder back (see the second picture). This might feel a little strange i.e. it will feel that it has dropped down in comparison to the other shoulder. But don’t worry, this is the correct position.
Beware not to overdo this as you will look a bit strange. However, a small realignment will do wonders for your drives – particularly if you suffer from the dreaded slice with this club.
