Practice and the “Closest to the Pin” game

I am always impressed by the Toptracer technology we have at World of Golf London. By far my favourite of the games that you can play in your bay is the Closest to the Pin.

Nearest the pin - August, ToptracerMost of my customers in the group classes use the same club for dozens and dozens of shots in a row when they are practicing. There is no problem with that, except it can be a little repetitive. Sometimes they get faster and faster until they resemble a machine gun firing rather than a golfer working on improving their game.

With the Closest to the Pin game, you should start at the first offered hole of 45 yards, using your smallest wedge. When you have got at least one of the balls within 10 feet of the hole progress onto the 60 yard next choice. Again, once the 10 foot range has been achieved move on, and so on.

This way you are concentrating both on a specific target and a specific distance with each shot. As well as learning more about the distances that you hit your individual clubs , it is immensely enjoyable. When you achieve that elusive 10 foot circle, it will bring a great smile to your face. Try it next time you are at the range. Who knows, you may even win the Closest to the Pin at World of Golf London for that day!

Happy New Year!
