Hoebridge Team Event
On a cold Sunday afternoon 20 of World of Golf New Malden customers braved both the weather and the wrath of their relatives to spend Mothers Day playing the lovely Hoebridge golf club in Woking.
The format, dictated by the hours of light, was to play the first 9 holes if this challenging public 18 hole golf course. So 5 teams of 4 players, put together so that their handicaps were about even set off, with nobody else on the golf course, it really was millionaires golf. The scoring was a stableford and the best 2 scores from the 4 in the team counted on each hole. There were a selection of memorable shots, some for the right reasons, some more for their comedic and entertainment value, but everyone had a superb afternoon.
In the end the team scores were all within 5 points of each from first to last and in second place with 37 points, the same as the third place team, but with a better last 6 holes was Jon Horne, Samantha McGuiness, Paul Rooke and David Minshull, but the winning team with 38 points were Phil Rambow, Andy Driver, John Forster and Gavin Rigby.
There will be more golf games coming soon and to get involved please just e mail Jon Woodroffe on woodroffe17@btinternet.com
